The policy applies to CHRISM Committee members and any others in positions of responsibility at events.
1. We recognise that everyone has different levels of vulnerability and that each of us may be regarded as vulnerable at some time in our lives.
2. We commit ourselves to the safeguarding of people who may be vulnerable, ensuring their well-being when we come into contact with them as members of CHRISM.
3. We commit ourselves to promoting safe practice by those in positions of trust.
4. CHRISM commits itself to promoting the inclusion and empowerment of people who may be vulnerable.
5. It is the responsibility of each of us to prevent the physical, emotional, sexual, financial and spiritual abuse of vulnerable people and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect. In the first instance, this should be to the CHRISM Safeguarding Officer, who will seek advice from the relevant diocesan or denominational safeguarding authorities.
6. CHRISM Committee members should have undertaken, or be working towards, appropriate adult safeguarding training, whether in their place of work or through their diocese or denomination. A list of such training will be maintained by the safeguarding co-ordinator, who will review it annually.
7. Each person who works with vulnerable people will agree to abide by these recommendations and the guidelines established by the denominations concerned.
This statement is reviewed on an annual basis and was last adopted by the CHRISM Committee at a meeting held on 09/05/2026
